Leyland Motor Company Building, Glasgow - Charcoal, Soft Pastel & Pencil on Paper - Original Drawing
An original drawing rendered in charcoal, soft pastel and colour pencil on paper.
Drawing of the building standing on the corner of Mauchline and Salkeld Streets on the South Side of Glasgow. A beautiful art deco styled building which was built for the Leyland Motor Company in 1933. The building is currently unoccupied and is unfortunately falling into a state of disrepair. This drawing is one of several preparatory drawings done to study the building before starting on a painting.
I've spent 2018 drawing and sketching on location in Glasgow, studying the city like a character and trying to capture it on paper. These drawings are all part of my working towards a body of work inspired by Glasgow and by living in it that I'll continue working on. I've made some of these drawings available for sale in my online shop.
Dimensions of drawing - 42 x 30cm
