In December 2025 I was in the west end of Glasgow sketching Oran Mor - the former Kelvinside Free Church - on the corner of Byres Road and Great Western Road. I was feeling like the building was a centre of gravity for the area and much of the identity of the neighbourhood radiated from its structure. I'm not a religious person but could feel the legacy of the artist and polymath Alasdair Gray who was responsible for the mural in the auditorium of the former church resonating with people walking past the venue more than its religious past. It might have been my imagination but I sketched this feeling into the faces of people walking by me as I sketched.
